  • Today - October 11. 7:30 PM. Reading and Book Signing: 'The Adversary' - an Afrocentric novel about supernatural forces of good and evil. By author C. David Priest, who in real life is Dr. C. David Williams, Dean of Trinity-St. Philip's Cathedral in Newark. At Grace Episcopal Church, East 7th and Cleveland Avenue (entrance on Cleveland Avenue). FREE.

  • Saturday - October 13. 8 AM - 4 PM. Plainfield Area Humane Society Yard Sale Fundraiser. Proceeds fund the PAHS. At the shelter, 75 Rock Avenue, Plainfield. Info: (908) 754-0300. Good quality items (no clothing) may be donated at the shelter noon to 4 PM daily except Monday before the sale.

  • Saturday - October 13. 1 - 5 PM. Netherwood Neighbors Oktoberfest. Residents of the Netherwood Heights HD will enjoy a German-themed Oktoberfest. Food, beverages and live music.
