WHAT'S HAPPENING

  • LIBRARY CLOSING FOR HOLIDAY WEEKEND. The Plainfield Public Library is taking advantage of the Presidents' Holiday weekend to tend to some maintenance and staff training. The Library will be CLOSED TODAY THROUGH MONDAY. Staff will participate in an all-day staff development workshop, and the main staircase will be resurfaced (a multi-day project). Normal hours resume Tuesday, February 17th at 9:30 AM.

  • Tomorrow - February 14. 8 PM. The Plainfield Symphony: A Symphonic Valentine. Guest Conductor: Jason Tramm. Soloist: Allen Yueh. Puccini: Intermezzo from Manon Lascaut.   • Sunday - February 15. 2 - 6 PM. Exhibit: Mel Holston Artworks. Plainfield artist Mel Holston continues his Black History Month tradition of opening his home to a showing of his art works. A long-time member of Plainfield's Culture and Heritage Commission, Mel has been instrumental in encouraging the arts in the Plainfield community. At 712 Pemberton Avenue (between Plainfield and Grant Avenues). Snow date: February 22.

  • Sunday - February 15. 3 PM. Crescent Concerts: Rutgers Collegium Musicum. Choral music of pre-Reformation England, including a Mass by Christopher Tye and motets by Taverner, Sheppard and others. Presenters Andrea White-Spann and James Rashid will cover the basics in buying a home, including how to figure out what you can afford, and the steps from making an offer to taking possession.   • Thursday - February 19. 7 - 9 PM. Workshop: Formulas for Foreclosure Prevention and Credit Repair. Useful information for homeowners struggling with payments, tenants whose landlords may be in foreclosure and anyone interested in maintaining or repairing their credit scores.
