PRIMARY ELECTION CAMPAIGN BLOGS
A contested Democratic primary for the Wards 2/3 seat this year has three candidates seeking the party line on the November ballot: incumbent Rashid Burney, New Democrat Rebecca Williams, and former Ward 3 councilor Don Davis. In addition, Jim Pivnichny is an uncontested candidate in the Republican primary. Their online presences are listed below--

You can only vote in the primary of the party in which you are registered (Democrat or Republican). Registered voters who have not declared a party affiliation may do so on Primary Day at their polling place and vote in the primary of their choice.

  • Today - June 5. 11:30 AM. NAACP Press Conference on School Vouchers. As part of the 2010 Quarterly Conference Meeting of the NAACP State Conference, its position on the proposed school vouchers program will be made clear. At First-Park Baptist Church, 315 West 7th Street (corner of Central Avenue, parking in lot on Central Avenue).

  • Today- June 5. Shakespeare in Bloom. See Philadelphia Inquirer story here, and photos here. The event has been canceled owing to the concert by the County in the park; however, the Shakespeare Garden is open for viewing, with plantings -- especially roses -- at their peak.
  • Today - June 5. Noon - 7 PM, rain or shine. Rhythm & Blues By The Brook. Featuring Morris Day and The Time, Biz Markie, Carl Weathersby, DJ Bookeem. Rides, activities and entertainment for the kids. FREE.
  • Today - June 5. 6 - 9 PM. Plainfield Symphony Garden Party. The annual summer fundraiser supports the free Family Concert scheduled for February, 2011.
