  • Obama Yard Sale 9/27: Items Needed. Items are needed for an Obama Yard Sale fundraiser Councilor Rashid Burney is holding on Saturday, September 27. Items that will sell for at least $25 are desired -- small appliances or electronics, furniture, decorative accessories, art, musical instruments, rugs, exercise equipment, etc. Items may be dropped off at The Burney Group, Realtors, 1320 South Avenue, during normal business hours. Furniture can be dropped off directly at Councilor Burney's home, 1127 Watchung Avenue (corner of Kensington Avenue). Any questions, call Councilor Burney at (908) 803-7606.

  • Monday - September 22. 9 AM. Rally For Abbott Funding. People are rallying from all over the state in support of funding for Abbott District initiatives: Full-day kindergarten, Pre-school for all 3- and 4-year-olds, Drop-out prevention programs, college transition and school-to-work programs.   • Tuesday - September 23. 6:30 PM. Block Associations Meeting. Join with neighborhood activists from block and neighborhood associations throughout the city to share information, common concerns and coordinate plans.   • Wednesday - September 24. 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Chamber Business Card Exchange. The Plainfield Chamber of Commerce kicks off the Fall season with its first business card exchange.
