  • Tomorrow - April 11. Noon - 4 PM. Sabor Latino: A Taste of Latin Plainfield. Taste the dishes and treats of Plainfield's Latino cultures. The event commemorates the late Pepsi Charles, who founded 'Plainfield Cooks'. Entertainment, music and vendors. At Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, East 7th Street and Watchung Avenue (parking in lot on First Place or at Swain Galleries). Tickets: $10/person.   • Tomorrow - April 11. 12:30 PM. Easter Egg Hunt. Bring the little ones ages 3-8 to this fun event and support a worthy cause, too. Games, prizes, and of course Easter Eggs galore! (Bring your own Easter basket.) Proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research Foundation. At Green Brook Park. For ages 3 - 8. $5/per child. Come on time for registration, hunt starts at 1 PM sharp.

  • Tomorrow - April 11. 6:30 PM. Jazz: Tulivu-Donna Cumberbatch Trio. Often compared to Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McCrae, Brooklyn-born Donna Cumberbatch is the daughter of famed baritone sax player Harold Cumberbatch. Don't miss this soulful performance.   • Sunday - April 12. Immediately following Easter service (approx. Noon). Easter Egg Hunt. Children of all ages welcome; Easter egg hunt is for children under 12. Refreshments will be offered (Easter candy, of course!). At First-Park Baptist Church, West 7th Street and Central Avenue. Parking available in Central Avenue lot.   • Monday - April 13. 7 PM. United Way Plainfield Community Council. Planning continues for the joint UW House Tour and FOSH Garage Sale scheduled for May 31 (mark your calendars!) as well as the upcoming National Volunteer Week (April 19 - 25). At the YWCA of Central NJ, 232 East Front at Church Street.

  • VENUE CHANGE?: Monday - April 13. 8 PM. City Council Business Meeting. Call the Clerk's Office at (908) 753-3222 to find out location of Council meeting as there are conflicting notices as to whether it is at the Council Chambers/Courthouse or Emerson School. Public may speak at beginning and end of meeting.

  • Monday - April 13. 8 PM. VWB Historic District Meeting. Regular monthly meeting. 967 Madison Avenue.

  • Thursday - April 16. 7 PM. League of Women Voters BOE Candidate Forum. Ten candidates for four Board of Education seats will face off in the annual LWV candidate forum. Candidate statements will appear in an LWV ad in the Courier in advance of the forum. Plainfield's LWV chapter, formed in 1920, is one of the oldest in the nation. In the Anne Louise Davis Meeting Room at the Plainfield Public Library, Park Avenue and 8th Street. FREE.

  • Friday - Sunday - April 17-19. Scrapbooking Weekend Getaway at The Pillars. Plainfield's B&B innkeepers Lamont Blowe and Nancy Fiske host a weekend for scrapbookers, including meals, constant snacks, endless pots of coffee and plenty of workspace.   • Saturday - April 18. 4 PM. Play: M.A.D.: Make A Decision. Presented by the Drama Ministry and young people of Shiloh Baptist Church. At Shiloh's Cultural Arts Center, 515 West Fourth Street.   • Saturday - April 18. 6:30 PM. 'Camp Discovery' Benefit Auction. Wine, cheese and desserts will be featured at this event to raise funds for a summer educational camp for Plainfield public school students. Local entertainer Gloria Walsh will preside over live and silent auctions of over 200 items, services, gift baskets and business gift certificates. An evening of fun, hilarity and bargains for all. Sponsored by United Plainfield CDC, a registered nonprofit. At United Church of Christ, Congregational. 220 West 7th Street at Madison Avenue (parking in Madison Avenue lot and on the street).
