  • Saturday - January 23. 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Kappa Alpha Blood Drive. Kappa Alpha, the youth mentoring group, along with the PHS Student Council and LASO (Latin American Student Organization) are having a blood drive. Donors should schedule an appointment in advance by calling Karen Clarke at (908) 397-8692. All donors will receive a pair of tickets to a NJ Nets game. At the PHS Cafeteria (use Kenyon Avenue parking lot and entrance).

  • Saturday - January 23. 1 - 3 PM. Reception and Exhibit: Chronicles of Plainfield. Four Plainfield photographers document the life and times of the Queen City from 1870 to 1970. Featuring works of Guillermo Thorn, Reina A. Lawrence, Paul R. Collier and Irving Georges from the photography collections of the Plainfield Public Library. In the Anne Louise Davis Gallery at the Plainfield Public Library, Park Avenue and 8th Street. FREE.

  • Sunday - January 24. 6 PM. Cathedral International: Coat Giveaway. Cathedral International's Plainfield congregation is offering winter coats free to all who need them.   • Sunday - January 24. 2 PM (Talk begins at 2:30). Exhibit and Talk: Stitches in Time: American Quilts, 1777-1915. Come out for this exhibit from the Drake House quilt collection, featuring the 1777 'Tree of Life' quilt, one of the finest of its era. Historian and quilter Mary Della Salla will offer a gallery talk and demonstration of quilting techniques. The selection of twelve quilts from the museum's collection is the first in 35 years. A $5 donation is requested. The Drake House is at 602 West Front Street, at the foot of Plainfield Avenue. Limited parking is available on site, plus Geraud Avenue, adjacent to the museum. Groups offered: T-Ball (ages 4-6), Minor League (7-9), Major League (10-12), Pony League (13-14), Girls Junior Softball (5th/6th, 12 and under), Girls Senior Softball (7th/8th, 14 and under). $85/first child, 20% discount ($17) for all siblings (with fundraising commitment).
