Plainfield observers (click on name to go to post): Bernice notes myriad of issues on Council's plate, wishes 'l'shanah tovah', finds City calendar marks an Islamic observance (but not Jewish holy days). Olddoc covers a host of Council topics, details Council's investigative powers. Maria brings us up to date on BOE policy meeting. Piv on gangs: time for a truce? Jerry reports on Clark's educational plan, thanks them for the treatment he received. Bo on the 22nd notes former President Bush in surprise welcome to returning soldiers. Councilor Mapp on portable speed humps as a possibility citywide. Councilor Storch demands Jerry cease-and-desist in smearing Bridgeway. Councilor Burney insists the Council do its due diligence on WBLS expenditures. Councilor McWilliams posts a letter regarding the commemoration of Muhlenberg's closing; and notes that two of her F.A.I.R. ordinances recently passed. Plainfield Sports News finds Thunder announcing possible pitchers for Eastern Division playoffs beginning today.

Don't miss these personal blogs by Plainfielders, each with a point of view: Rebecca Williams' Confessions of a Bathrobe Blogger holds Cory Storch up as an exemplar of public service; Nat Singleton, energized by Jerry Green's misinformation, is blogging at Dumbed Down America, where South Park's Eric Hartman gives Gov. Christie some needed advice; BOE member Renata Hernandez blogs anew at new blog Standing In The Gap has another mysteriously non-informative invitation to Emerson School tonight at 6 for a meeting -- but there's a Board meeting at 6:30, what gives?; her daughter Milani Hernandez is at PEPTalk: A PPS pupil's perspective where she also posts a mystery message about tonight's Emerson School event; Jackie Schnoop's The (TV) Show Must Go On, has jury duty which has only slightly dented her schedule (though I must confess my first thought on seeing the dishes in the sink was 'are these Jackie's?' -- but they're not; and Dottie Gutenkauf's Dottie G Sez.

Besides the news on the front page of the Plainfield Public Schools website, there are three blogs concerned with the schools: Vashon Hill, president of the Leadership Project of Jefferson and Cook schools blogs at A Student's Prospective, has posted pix from school's opening; and two teacher blogs: Dr. E=MC²,
points to involving young people in solving the gang problem (and critiques the Mayor's 'simplistic' Town Hall gambit); and Eye on Plainfield Schools. Some of the bloggers who took a summer break are back scribbling!
