  • Today - September 20. Eid al-Fitr. The feast which marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

  • Today - September 20. 1 - 9 PM. Central American Independence Fiesta. The two-day event continues in the parking lot between Somerset Street and Watchung Avenue along the Green Brook. Food from various countries, vendors, music. And a mechanical bull ride. FREE.

  • Tomorrow - September 21. 9 AM - 3ish PM. Farmer's Market: Stillwell Farms of Robbinsville. Fresh fruits and veggies. Vacant lot between City Hall and Salvation Army, Watchung Avenue.

  • Tomorrow - September 21. 6 - 8 PM. Plainfield Chamber of Commerce Reception. Members and those interested in joining Plainfield's citywide business organization will gather for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and the installation of new officers. At Giovanna's, South Avenue.   • Thursday - September 24. 8 PM. City Council: Special Meeting. Per discussion at the September 14th meeting, the administration is expected to offer the proposed FY2010 budget. The ordinance providing for tax abatements to buyers of condos at The Monarch is expected to be introduced for first reading. City Hall Library. 515 Watchung Avenue.   • Friday - September 25. 8 PM. 'Bonjour Paris': Concert by Harmonic Brass München . One of the world's finest brass ensembles returns to Plainfield, one of its first US venues, in an exciting program that will benefit King's Daughters Day School. Reserved seats (includes pre-concert reception at Swain Galleries): $50. Regular admission: $25; Seniors: $20; Students: $5. All tickets are $5 more at door.
