A contested Democratic primary for the Wards 2/3 seat this year has three candidates seeking the party line on the November ballot: incumbent Rashid Burney, New Democrat Rebecca Williams, and former Ward 3 councilor Don Davis.   • Tuesday - May 4. 7 PM. Board of Ed Reorganization Meeting. Newly-elected board members Rasheed Abdul-Haqq, Wilma Campbell, Renata Hernandez and Keisha Edwards will be sworn in. The Board will also elect its new officers for the 2010-11 year. At the Board of Ed Administration Building (Jefferson School), 1200 Myrtle Avenue. Public welcome.

  • Tuesday - May 4. 7 PM. PMUA Board of Commissioners. At PMUA headquarters, 127 Roosevelt Avenue (corner of East 2nd Street). Info: (908) 226-2518. Public invited. These meetings are often very brief, so don't dawdle if you're going.

  • Wednesday - May 5. 5 PM. United Way House Tour Planning Meeting. Planning continues for the Maidens in May House Tour, slated to coincide with the annual FOSH garage sale and Netherwood Heights and Van Wyck Brooks District activities.   • Friday - May 7. 9 AM - 4 PM. Book Repair Workshop. Learn simple and intermediate methods to repair, restore, bind and protect books with archival materials. This is the first of three workshops (the others are May 27 and June 25). Bring a problem book for a diagnosis and demonstration on how to repair it. $30/session, includes lunch.
