In April, CLIPS offered to post links to online presences any candidate may be using for the 2009 primary election campaign. That included notices of fundraisers, rallies, etc. in the calendar section. Snail mail invitations were sent to each candidate, inviting them to email links and notices to Dan and that the links will be in a special section on the CLIPS page beginning Wednesday, May 6. Links above are to those who have responded. Those not responding include: Carol Ann Brokaw-Boles, Bob Ferraro and Tom Turner, as well as Assemblyman Jerry Green.

- Today - 10 AM. Memorial Day Ceremony at the War Memorial, East 7th Street and Watchung Avenue.
- Wednesday - May 27. 6:30 PM. Mayoral Candidates Forum. A candidates forum hosted by the newly formed Women For Progress In Plainfield. In the Anne Louise Davis Meeting Room at the Plainfield Public Library, Park Avenue and 8th Street. LAST CHANCE TO SEE AND HEAR ALL CANDIDATES, IF THEY SHOW.
- Wednesday - May 27. 7:30 PM. Plainfield Shade Tree Commission. City Hall Library. 515 Watchung Avenue (parking in lot at rear of building). Public invited.
- Saturday - May 30. 9 AM - 3 PM. Health Fair & Flea Market. Blood pressure, childhood obesity, dental education, autism info, and more. Plus a great flea market. At United Presbyterian Church, 525 East Front Street. Info: (908) 756-2666. FREE.
- Friday/Saturday - May 30/31. Starts at Dusk. Plainfield Relay For Life 2008. Join in Plainfield's 2nd Annual event, an overnight celebration of hope, progress and answers -- raising funds and awareness. Find out how to help in the fight against cancer. - Sunday - May 31. 9 AM - 4 PM. 16th Annual FOSH Garage Sale and VWB Yard Sale. You won't want to miss Plainfield's huge garage sale event, this year joined by the Van Wycks Brooks' Historic District's yard sale. Thousands visit the city for the FOSH sale and now will have two neighborhoods to load up from. Look for balloons. - Sunday - May 31. 2 - 5 PM. 'Maidens in May' House Tour. United Way's Plainfield Community Council has put together an outstanding house (and garden!) tour to benefit the Queen City's emergency services. The tour features six homes of architectural and historic significance, plus several homes whose owners will open their gardens for the event. A post-tour party at The Pillars (922 Central Avenue) will wind up the festivities. Tickets: $20/person -- gets you into homes, gardens and party. Proceeds will benefit the Plainfield Rescue Squad and the Tri-County Red Cross. For more information, visit the United Way website here.
