In April, CLIPS offered to post links to online presences any candidate may be using for the 2009 primary election campaign. That included notices of fundraisers, rallies, etc. in the calendar section. Snail mail invitations were sent to each candidate, inviting them to email links and notices to Dan and that the links will be in a special section on the CLIPS page beginning Wednesday, May 6. Links above are to those who have responded. Those not responding include: Carol Ann Brokaw-Boles, Bob Ferraro and Tom Turner, as well as Assemblyman Jerry Green.

WHAT'S HAPPENING

  • Today - May 31. 9 AM - 4 PM. 16th Annual FOSH Garage Sale and VWB Yard Sale. You won't want to miss Plainfield's huge garage sale event, this year joined by the Van Wycks Brooks' Historic District's yard sale. Thousands visit the city for the FOSH sale and now will have two neighborhoods to load up from. Look for balloons. Maps available at participating homes or visit the FOSH website here and the VWB Historic District's site here.

  • Today - May 31. 9 AM - 3 PM. Annual Pet Rehab Benefit Yard Sale. This multi-household yard sale always has great goodies, plus the proceeds benefit Angel's Gate, an animal rehab center and hospice. At 1326 Watchung Avenue. For more info, see angelsgate.org/.

  • Today - May 31. 2 - 5 PM. 'Maidens in May' House Tour. United Way's Plainfield Community Council has put together an outstanding house (and garden!) tour to benefit the Queen City's emergency services. The tour features six homes of architectural and historic significance, plus several homes whose owners will open their gardens for the event. A post-tour party at The Pillars (922 Central Avenue) will wind up the festivities. Tickets: $20/person -- gets you into homes, gardens and party. Proceeds will benefit the Plainfield Rescue Squad and the Tri-County Red Cross. For more information, visit the United Way website here.   • Tuesday - June 2. 6 AM - 8 PM. Primary Election Day. If you don't vote, you have no one to blame for the next four years but yourself.

  • Wednesday - June 3. 7 PM. Zoning Board of Adjustment. City Hall Library. 515 Watchung Avenue (parking in lot at rear of building). Public invited.

  • Thursday - June 4. 8 PM. Planning Board. City Hall Library. 515 Watchung Avenue (parking in lot at rear of building). Public invited.

  • Monday - June 8. Democratic City Committe Reorganization. Seating of newly-elected members, election of officers.

  • Tuesday - June 9. 8 PM. 6 PM. Book Signing: Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen. Author Susan Gregg Gilmore will be present at a special book signing on the day her novel debuts. Go Donna! More about this coming-of-age novel here. At Plainfield's Dairy Queen, 1367 South Avenue. All are invited.

  • Tuesday - June 9. 8 PM. 7:30 PM. City Council Agenda Session. City Hall Library. 515 Watchung Avenue. (Parking and entry at rear of building.) Public may speak at end of meeting. Rescheduled owing to Dem committee reorg.
