  • Today - February 8. 6 PM. PMUA Rate Hearing. PMUA Commissioners will conduct the public hearing on the agency's proposed 2010 rate changes, at which the public may speak. At PMUA headquarters, 127 Roosevelt Avenue (corner of East 2nd Street). Info: (908) 226-2518. Regular meetings are often very brief though the rate hearing may be longer, still you should not dawdle if you're going.

  • Today - February 8. 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Queen City Baseball League Registration. Groups offered: T-Ball (ages 4-6), Minor League (7-9), Major League (10-12), Pony League (13-14), Girls Junior Softball (5th/6th, 12 and under), Girls Senior Softball (7th/8th, 14 and under). $85/first child, 20% discount ($17) for all siblings (with fundraising commitment).   • Today - February 8. 8 - 9 PM. 100th Anniversary of Boy Scouting: Candlelight Ceremony. Plainfield's Boy Scout Troop 5 will lead a candlelight ceremony in honor of Scouting's 100th anniversary, joining with Scouting supporters throughout New Jersey. (Troop 5 celebrates its own 98th anniversary this year.) Candlelighting will be at 8:30 PM. Light refreshments follow the ceremony. On the steps of City Hall, 515 Watchung Avenue. The Troop meets Mondays at 7:30 PM at United Presbyterian Church, 525 East Front Street (parking in the rear).

  • Today - February 8. 8 PM. VWB Historic District Meeting. Monthly members meeting.   • Thursday - February 11. 9 AM. Plainwood Square Merchants Association. City Administrator Bibi Taylor and Health Officer Mark Colicchio will discuss the proposed health division fee changes. At Wendy's, South Avenue at Terrill Road.

  • Friday/Saturday - February 12/13. 8 PM. Theater: The Light in the Piazza. A young American tourist falls for an Italian while visiting Rome. Based on the novella by Elizabeth Spencer. At CDC Community Theater, 78 Winans Avenue, Cranford. Tickets: $20, Senior/Student $18. Student Rush: Students admitted for half price after 7:30 PM day of performance.   • Saturday - February 13. Noon - 4 PM. Oprah Network Casting Call. The Oprah Winfrey Network is conducting a casting call for its 'My Time' program.
