- Wednesday - October 7. 7 PM. Zoning Board of Adjustment. City Hall Library. 515 Watchung Avenue (parking in lot at rear of building). Public invited.
- Wednesday - October 7. 7:30 - 9 PM. Candidate Meet And Greet: Pivnichny. Join with friends and neighbors to meet and talk with Republican mayoral candidate Jim Pivnichny. Coffee and light refreshments. At the home of Susan Keller, 1126 Martine Avenue. Free, but please RSVP to (908) 753-1802.

- Thursday - October 8. 8 PM. WQXR moves to 105.9 FM. For those who find change hard, it is instructive to read the history of the station's frequency-hopping and call letters (see here). This change turns out to be nothing new; what is new is that it will now be a public radio station, no longer owned by the New York Times.
- Saturday - October 10. 7 PM. Plainfield Symphony 90th Anniversary Gala Concert. Newly appointed conductor Charles Prince will be joined by former conductors George Marriner Maull and Sabin Pautza in a special program marking the 90th season opening.
