  • Today - October 3. 9 AM - 2 PM. Annual Hispanic Health Fair. Sponsored by the Coalition of Hispanic Physicians and Latinas en Accion. Screenings for: Vision; Pap and breast exams; HIV; Bone density; and Hypertension. Mini-lectures in Spanish by Coalition doctors. Refreshments, music, face painting, clown. At Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, East 7th Street and Watchung Avenue. All are welcome. FREE.

  • Today - October 3. 7 PM. Church-N-The Hood Arts Outreach. Join Pastor LaDana (Lady Jam) Clark and a group of young performers and featured area artists in an outreach to youth, young adults and the young at heart in the community.   • Tomorrow - October 4. 1:30 PM. Annual FOSH Celebration of Animals. In conjunction with the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron of animals.   • Thursday - October 8. 8 PM. WQXR moves to 105.9 FM. For those who find change hard, it is instructive to read the history of the station's frequency-hopping and call letters (see here). This change turns out to be nothing new; what is new is that it will now be a public radio station, no longer owned by the New York Times.

  • Saturday - October 10. 7 PM. Plainfield Symphony 90th Anniversary Gala Concert. Newly appointed conductor Charles Prince will be joined by former conductors George Marriner Maull and Sabin Pautza in a special program marking the 90th season opening.
